I was stationed at the 55th Trans. Battalion {A-33} in ASCOM City March 1962 to March 1963. The 44th Engineers were in the Compound behind us. I seem to remember that Castle. The 44th was known as The Heartbreak Compound. The story goes that they were almost to San Francisco when the War broke out. They turned them around and sent them back. They had a lot of casualties earning them the name Heartbreak Company.
