Welcome to the site Tom. I have a couple pictures of Uijongbu from the early mid 50s, and it sure has grown since then. I was 1st in Korea in 1960, and it was just starting to recover from the War. The MSR from Seoul going north had just been blacktopped, but still a narrow 2 lane road. All the other roads north of Seoul were gravel, or just dirt. Most of the buildings in Uijongbu single floor, with a few near the main intersection being 2 floors.
In 1969, I was just southeast of Uijongbu about 3 miles at Camp Stanley. This started out as a tent camp in 1953 for the 13th Helicopter Company, and is about the same size now as the main camp in Uijongbu, Camp Red Cloud.
I was last stationed in Korea in 1982, and was assigned at Camp Red Cloud this time. It still had many of the Quonset huts that were built to replace the tents in 1954, but these seem to be all gone now, and collage like dorm buildings have replaced them.
If you have any photos from your time in Korea, I would love to add them to the main web page.
