Seoul area 1960.

Any one in Seoul area in 1960? Does any one remember the road called the MSR that ran from Seoul North, on up in country. My Compound was on this road with a statue of an american soldier his name was General Walker, it was front of our front gate, which had a sign that read, "US Army B&VA, Pac. Korea." Does anyone remember this sign from 1960.

I was a Truck Driver in the 17th Trans Bn at Casey 1960-61 and drove past it several times going south to Ascom and Inchon from Casey. Do not remember any details, but know it was some type of Pyops Unit.

I enjoyed those days, even in 61 when I drove through Seoul the day Gen Park over threw the government.

Glad to hear from you, not too many people remember where we were at and we had a camp full of people when the riots took place in Seoul, they were there for 15 or 16 days trying to figure out what had happened. I finally got out during the first days of this and went down to the 8th Army compound and set around trying to get out of typing reports. Did not know the importance of the riots, thought was just a Korean excuse to cause trouble. But I later figured out how important this thing was and I stayed inside of the compound so I would not be hurt. We typed up untill 11pm at night and started out at 7 am the next day. I was totally exhusted when this thing was over. Synman Rhee had stole everything he could carry and got out of the country and went to Hawaii with treasury and every thing else he could get away with.
